Excavation of a cemetery from Prehistoric and Historical times in Aliveri
A cemetery was excavated this summer by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea at the site Makria Rachi of Karavos in Aliveri. This proved to be a real palimpsest in terms of the region’s archaeological data, since during a rescue survey carried out on a private plot of land, it was found that the cemetery had been in continuous use for over 2,500 years. Rich finds at Vryokastro and Vryokastraki on Kythnos
Results were particularly impressive from this year’s systematic excavation of the ancient town of Kythnos (today’s Vryokastro) conducted from June 26 to August 4. Standing out among them are the finds from systematic excavations in the area of the ancient harbour, on the islet of “Vryokastraki” (the small island at the tip of the peninsular that, till Late Antiquity at least, must have been joined to the coast by a small isthmus). Childhood trauma linked to impaired social cognition later in life for patients with major psychiatric disorders
A new report published in European Psychiatryidentified a significant association between childhood adversity and impaired social cognitive functioning among adults diagnosed with major psychiatric disorders. Through a comprehensive review of all research conducted to date, the investigators established that a traumatic early social environment frequently leads to social cognitive problems and greater illness severity for individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder.
