Having promised yesterday that we would say a few words on the topic, I will say a few things, just so that I won’t be untrue to yesterday’s promise.

As a follow-up to all those things, one wonders: all these things that take place – everything that we do – our pilgrimages, our candles, our night-vigils, our prayers, our fasts, our gestures of charity – everything that we do in our life – are for what purpose and what is the reason that we do them?
